Very rarely do any Johan Cryuff shirts come onto the market, so with that in mind maybe we should make this shirt of the year not the month!!

This Cruyff Washington Diplomats away shirt would have been worn during the 1980 season of the now defunct North American Soccer League. Made by Adidas it is an Airtex "tea bag" design with the logos name and numbers painted onto the shirt, with the exception of the stitch embroidered cloth no.14 to the right sleeve. These Airtex shirts differred slightly in their design, to the normal cotton shirts, with the Adidas Trefoil placed centrally and not on the right side as was normally the case.

The shirt comes with excellent provenance and a signed letter from the son of the original vendor who obtain the shirt when given it by Cruyff. The shirt also comes with a NASL match ball which was also given at the same time.

Voted the greatest European player of the 20th Century, three times a European Cup Winner with Ajax and three times record equalling European Footballer of the Year, he played a total of 32 times for the Dips. We are only considering sizable sensible offers on this shirt of a true footballing legend.

What's the difference between Match worn and Match issued?
Match worn shirts have actually been worn in a game by the player in question. In most instances we will be able to tell you in which game, or which part of the season (some shirts are worn several times). Match issued shirts have been issued to the player by the club's kit man, but subsequently have not been worn and have come direct to us.
